New EMC and RF standards
Standard EN 55011:2009/A1:2010 "Industrial, scientific and medical equipment – Radio frequency disturbance characteristics – Limits and methods of measurement" has been published in the European Union Official Journal as a harmonized standard under the EMC Directive. The date of cessation of the standard is July 1, 2013. After this date the standard must be used in testing. The new version makes the use of 10m testing chamber obligatory for large equipment (height exceeding 1.5m and diameter exceeding 1.2m,
ETSI has published a new standard version of EN 300 386 "Telecommunications network equipment; Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) requirements". The new version includes only minor updates and no significant technical changes. The version has also been published in the EU Official Journal.
IEC has published new EMC standards in IEC 61326 series. The standard series apply to measurement, control and laboratory use. Standard IEC 61326-1, 2nd edition includes minor changes for some tests and performance criteria harmonizing the standard in accordance with the generic EMC standards (IEC 61000-6-1, -2).
The following sub-parts of the standard series have also been published as a second edition, to update them in accordance with the standard IEC 61326-1:
- IEC 61326-2-1 (EMC unprotected applications)
- IEC 61326-2-2 (portable test, measuring and monitoring equipment used in low-voltage distribution systems
- IEC 61326-2-3 (transducers with integrated or remote signal conditioning)
- IEC 61326-2-4 (insulation monitoring devices and equipment for insulation fault location)
- IEC 61326-2-5 (field devices with field bus interfaces).
CISPR (International Special Committee on Radio Interference) met in Bangkok in November. The sub-committee F will publish the 8th edition of CISPR 15 (Limits and methods of measurement of radio disturbance characteristics of Electrical lighting and similar equipment). This edition includes LED lighting devices that have not been separately mentioned in the standard.
ETSI standard EN 300 328, version 1.8.1. "Wideband transmission systems; Data transmission equipment operating in the 2,4 GHz ISM band and using wide band modulation techniques; Harmonized EN covering the essential requirements of article 3.2 of the R&TTE Directive" has been published on October 23, 2012 in the EU Official Journal as a harmonized standard under the RTTE Directive. The new version includes requirements and test methods for Medium Access Control (MAC).
