This year within EU two regulations regarding eco-design of products have been implemented. These regulations decrease the power consumption of stand by and off modes and the energy consumption of simple set-top boxes. The product-related regulations have been given on the basis of the so-called eco-design framework directive. Their aim is that by developing the product planning energy will be saved and energy efficiency improved within European Union. Individual product-related requirements will be implemented gradually in the next few years.
